Illegal egg cell trade in Turkey: Large-scale operation in 14 provinces
Turkish law enforcement agencies have conducted a large-scale operation covering 14 provinces of the country. As part of the investigation, members of a criminal network engaged in illegal reproductive cell trafficking, including several doctors, have been detained.

The details of the operation have caused a serious public resonance. It was revealed that the criminal group selected women through various catalogs and presented them to clients based on their appearance, hair, and eye color. It turned out that the process of taking women abroad and selling their egg cells was organized in a systematic manner.
According to investigative documents, 41 women sold egg cells a total of 811 times. It was determined that the criminal gang made a large amount of profit from this illegal activity and promised clients to find donors with any desired physical characteristics.
The operation was initiated by a citizen's complaint to CİMER (Presidency's Communication Center) regarding his wife. The investigation launched on the basis of this complaint resulted in the exposure of an underground trading network that had been operating for years. Currently, the interrogation of the detainees and the investigation of other details of the criminal case are ongoing.
