President Erdoğan Strongly Criticizes IMM Over Delays in Cerrahpaşa Hospital Project
President Erdoğan Targets IMM Over - President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan severely criticized the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) during his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the restoration project of Cerrahpaşa Hospital, one of Istanbul's long-established and important healthcare institutions.

Erdoğan noted that since 2019, IMM has failed to fulfill its obligations regarding the project, instead offering only excuses. He specifically emphasized that it is unacceptable for such vital healthcare initiatives to be sacrificed to political disputes.
The reconstruction of Cerrahpaşa Hospital, which has held a significant place in Turkish healthcare for centuries, is of vital importance for Istanbul. The primary goal of this project is to restore the hospital to meet modern requirements and make it earthquake-resistant.
In his speech, President Erdoğan stressed that all hospital buildings to be constructed within the project are designed with earthquake-resistant structures. This point is of great importance for the health and safety of the population in a city like Istanbul, which has a high earthquake risk.
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca also stated in his speech that they are working tirelessly to achieve the goals of the "Healthy Türkiye Century." He noted that this project is an integral part of that large-scale strategy.
Erdoğan called on local administrative bodies to act more responsibly in projects serving national interests and to remove bureaucratic obstacles. He emphasized that ensuring the healthcare needs of the population should be a priority for everyone.
The swift completion of the renovation work at Cerrahpaşa Hospital promises great advantages for both Istanbul and all of Türkiye. This project is one of the significant steps taken towards strengthening Türkiye's healthcare infrastructure.
