Allegations of PKK Propaganda During Nowruz Celebrations: Mass Arrests in Turkey
Allegations of PKK propaganda during Nowruz celebrations - Following the Nowruz holiday celebrations in Turkey, large-scale operations were carried out in connection with allegations of spreading propaganda for the PKK terrorist organization and participating in unauthorized demonstrations. These operations covered nine different provinces of the country, resulting in 170 people being taken into custody.

Among these incidents, those that occurred in the cities of Istanbul and Diyarbakır drew particular attention. In these two major cities, 27 individuals, who were allegedly spreading propaganda for the terrorist organization during Nowruz events, were arrested by court order.
It is noted that those taken into custody primarily face charges related to their social media posts, slogans chanted at events, and displaying symbols of the terrorist organization. Investigations by law enforcement agencies are still ongoing.
The BBC news agency also confirmed that 170 people were detained after the Nowruz celebrations. This figure matches the total number of individuals taken into custody during operations carried out by Habertürk in nine provinces.
However, the Diken news portal reported that only 38 people were detained due to "PKK propaganda" during the Nowruz festivities. This differing figure may reflect separate stages of operations conducted in various regions.
The Turkish government has announced that it will resolutely continue such measures within the framework of its counter-terrorism policy. The importance of celebrating Nowruz festivities with messages of peace and unity is emphasized, but it is stated that terrorist organizations will not be allowed to misuse this holiday for their own purposes.
