Indonesia prepares to lead the Global South's forest conservation alliance
Indonesia, Brazil, and the Democratic Republic of Congo are home to more than half of the world's tropical forest cover. These three states are taking important steps to expand strategic partnership in the field of global ecosystem protection.

During the G20 summit held in Bali in 2022, the parties reached a joint decision on the formation of financial mechanisms aimed at protecting forests. This initiative is a new cooperation format created by developing countries to defend their natural resources.
This union of the Global South aims to minimize dependence on Western states and achieve self-sufficiency in forestry. Indonesia's leadership mission in this process further strengthens the country's position in international environmental policy.
Experts believe that the joint efforts of these three countries can be crucial in the fight against climate change. The implementation of a unified strategy for forest conservation will also contribute to protecting the rights of local communities and ensuring sustainable development.
