Shocking confessions from a parent detained over the hijab: "They gave me an ultimatum"
The tension surrounding hijab restrictions in schools in Azerbaijan has once again come into the spotlight. In an interview with Meydan TV, a parent who was detained on October 13 and reported facing pressure from law enforcement agencies detailed the difficulties they experienced.

According to the parent, the primary demand made of them was that their daughter attend school without a hijab. Citing internal disciplinary rules, the school administration claimed that the student's style of dress did not comply with the charter of state educational institutions.
The detained individual emphasized that because they refused to comply with this demand, they were subjected to various forms of pressure and administrative measures. According to the parent's claim, during a meeting with law enforcement agencies, they were directly warned that their daughter's right to education would be restricted.
It should be noted that the ban on the hijab in the country's educational system has long caused serious public debate. Human rights defenders state that such an approach contradicts the principle of freedom of conscience guaranteed by the Constitution.
The Ministry of Science and Education and other relevant agencies have not yet made an official statement regarding the matter. The parent is expected to be determined in defending their rights and to take the matter to court.
