Farmers' Subsidized Fertilizer Challenge in Azerbaijan: Agriculture at Risk

Subsidized Fertilizer Shortage Threatens Azerbaijani - Subsidized fertilizer shortage in Azerbaijani agriculture - Farmers, considered one of the main pillars of Azerbaijan's agricultural sector, face significant problems in obtaining the subsidized fertilizers allocated to them by the state. This situation raises serious concerns regarding the country's food security and the sustainable development of the agrarian sector.

Fertilizers are of crucial importance in increasing productivity and maintaining soil fertility. The untimely and insufficient delivery of subsidized fertilizers to farmers negatively affects the expected harvest in their cultivated areas, increases production costs, and consequently, can lead to a rise in the prices of agricultural products.

The subsidies allocated by the state to farmers aim to increase the competitiveness of agriculture, stimulate production, and improve the economic situation of farmers. However, the current situation reveals serious shortcomings in the implementation of this policy.

Farmers complain about bureaucratic obstacles, disruptions in the supply chain, and sometimes a lack of transparency in the fertilizer distribution process. In some cases, subsidized fertilizers are even sold at higher prices in the market, which makes it difficult for those genuinely in need to access them.

This problem affects not only the individual incomes of farmers but also the country's overall economy. A decrease in agricultural production can strengthen dependence on imports and lead to price increases in the domestic market.

Experts and farmers call on the government to take urgent measures to eliminate this problem. Increasing transparency in the fertilizer distribution system, strengthening control, and actively involving farmers in this process are essential conditions for improving the situation.

Otherwise, Azerbaijan's agricultural sector may face serious difficulties, which will pose a threat to the country's food security in the long term.
