Tensions rising in France: Instances of violence intensified in protests

Mass protests held across France were accompanied by violent clashes. In many cities, especially the capital Paris, tense moments occurred between security forces and demonstrators, and the streets practically turned into a battlefield.

With the intensification of the demonstrations, government buildings were also targeted. The burning of a 143-year-old town hall has laid bare the scale of the chaos in the country. A large number of people were detained during the incidents, and it is reported that the material damage is quite significant.

Students in Berlin also supported the protests, which were joined by the Yellow Vests movement. Echoing internationally, these rallies demonstrate the deepening social discontent in France.

President Emmanuel Macron harshly criticized the events. Noting that seeds of discord are being sown in society, Macron emphasized that they fully support law enforcement agencies and will take decisive steps to restore public order.
