Elman Nasirov on Azer Gasimli's arrest: There are no politically motivated arrests in Azerbaijan

Nasirov stated that no one is arrested in Azerbaijan for their political views.

Elman Nasirov noted the existence of political pluralism in Azerbaijan and that citizens' freedom of thought is guaranteed by law. He added that political activity or a critical stance does not create criminal liability.
However, the deputy emphasized that if any person violates the law, their accountability is inevitable, regardless of their political status. In this context, he stated that it is necessary to evaluate Azer Gasimli's detention within a legal framework.
Nasirov stated that Azerbaijan remains committed to international legal norms and its obligations, emphasizing that the guarantee of human rights and freedoms is one of the main priorities of state policy.
