Safety Violations on Lake Baikal Ice: Over 50 Cases Recorded on March 7
Safety violations on Lake Baikal ice – Cases of safety rule violations on the ice surface of Russia's famous Lake Baikal are causing serious concern. As a result of inspections carried out by patrol services, more than fifty such violations were detected on March 7 alone. These incidents coincide with a period when the ice cover is becoming increasingly dangerous.

The detected violations are mainly related to unauthorized access to the ice surface, driving vehicles without observing safety measures, and organizing trips that put tourists' lives at risk. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) have also emphasized the widespread existence of legal violations among organizers of tourist trips.
According to the latest information, new ice cracks have formed on Baikal, and the ice melting process has accelerated. This situation completely prohibits access to the ice, as any movement poses a serious danger. According to UlanMedia agency, entry to the lake has been prohibited due to the thinning of the ice.
In the Irkutsk region, especially during holidays, control over safety on the ice will be further strengthened. The main purpose of these measures is to prevent potential accidents that may occur as a result of thinning and cracking ice.
Local authorities and the Ministry of Emergency Situations urge citizens and tourists to be extremely careful on the ice, not to enter prohibited areas, and to use only safe routes. Adhering to safety rules is the responsibility of every individual.
