Azerbaijan declares international search for Turkish journalist

The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has issued an international arrest warrant for a Turkish citizen who works as a columnist for the "Şanlıurfa Olay" newspaper. Based on the decision of law enforcement agencies, a criminal case has been launched against the journalist.

According to reports, the charges brought against the individual are related to actions contrary to Azerbaijan's state interests and legislative system. Due to the journalist being abroad, investigative bodies have decided to apply international legal mechanisms to determine their whereabouts.

Investigation documents allege that the journalist made illegal calls regarding Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and domestic policy in articles published on various platforms. This step is interpreted as another indicator of official Baku's resolute stance on protecting information security.

Legal processes are currently ongoing. The Azerbaijani side has stated that, based on international law norms and within the framework of cooperation with relevant bodies, all necessary measures will be taken to bring the journalist to justice.
