EU Takes Decisive Stance on Russian Gas Rejection Plan: Deadline to Remain Unchanged
European Union stands firm on - European Union rejects Russian gas - The European Commission (EC) has no intention of reviewing the deadlines for halting imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia. This resolute step once again confirms the European Union's determination to ensure its energy independence and continue its sanctions policy against Russia.

According to information disseminated by the "Interfax" agency, the European Union intends to completely halt LNG imports from Russia by the end of this year. This measure is a crucial part of the strategy to reduce dependence on Russia's energy resources after the start of the war in Ukraine.
The European Commission had previously described the resumption of energy carrier imports from Russia as a "wrong step." This statement further demonstrates the EU's firm position towards minimizing its energy dependence on Russia.
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas also specifically noted that the European Union has no interest in energy transactions with Russia. According to her, EU member states are striving to completely stop the flow of energy from Russia, and significant achievements have already been made in this area.
This decision will accelerate the search for new supply sources in the European Union's energy market and further strengthen the energy security of member countries. Additionally, a major goal is to deal a serious blow to Russia's revenues from energy exports.
